Health coaching is an integrative approach founded on the belief that everything in our lives is interconnected. It utilizes behavioral change techniques to help optimize overall health and well-being. A health coach is a mentor, a cheerleader, an advisor, and a partner. They will serve as your guide as you lead the way through your personal journey of change. You are and will always be the expert in your own life, while a health coach is the expert on the process of change. Your coach will ask you the important questions that will allow you to gain the knowledge, skills, and confidence to make sustainable lifestyle changes that will improve the quality of your life. They will listen with curiosity to help you define your goals and then help hold you accountable to these wishes. Clients can choose to work on many areas of their life with a focus on what is within their control. These lifestyle aspects can include, but are not limited to nutrition, exercise, sleep quality, mindfulness, and environment. The experience will be empowering and build upon your values and individual strengths.
Imagine going on a road trip. You are in the driver’s seat heading to the destination of your choice. Your family will be coming along too, the more the merrier, but I call shotgun! I will be sitting in the passenger’s seat helping you navigate. I will warn you of the sharp right turn coming up. I will remind you it might be time for a pit stop. I will obsessively tap your dashboard if I think you are going to fast (ok, I won’t be that annoying). I will point out all the beautiful scenery along the way. At times it might feel like a really long day in the car, but we will also have a ton of fun.
